Autorem słów piosenki jest lider PTV, Genesis P. Orridge, muzykę skomponował Alex Fergusson (gitarzysta Psychic TV w latach 1981-1987, wcześniej w Alternative TV). 

Kawałek po raz pierwszy ukazał się w roku 1984, na siedmiocalowej EP-ce zatytułowanej Roman P (wydanej nakładem Sordide Sentimental).

Do tej pory grupa nagrała kilka wersji tego utworu. Oprócz oryginalnej nawiązującej do muzyki psychodelicznej lat 60, sporą popularność zyskała także wersja a' la wcześni Beach Boys, z albumu Godstar: Thee Director's Cut.

Jak twierdzi Genesis - "P" w tytule piosenki nie odnosi się do nazwiska Polański, lecz do słowa pervert czyli zboczeniec.
